That is historically noteworthy as it's the first 'blizzard' I've experienced. It's an occasion that calls for picture taking! Would you humor me and let me share a few of my favorites? Ok, it's more than a few, but humor me anyway, this only happens once a century or so.
Everything after this was not at my home. I went for a drive to see what the snow had done to the country-side. Mind you, I don't drive about in snow. This was a somewhat frightening experience. Especially once I got to the mountain pass where there were steep grades and iced over roads. I didn't really know enough about the danger I was in. Luckily, I was protected and escaped with only a very very full bladder after having to wait for a road to be reopened due to the dangers thereon.
I would have done even more photography, but the fact that the roads were icey and I couldn't pull off them because I wouldn't have been able to get back on ended up limiting me quite a bit. Next time this happens I'll be taking the 4-wheel drive! I hope you enjoy!
Gorgeous photos! You got so much more snow than we did down in Tucson. Lucky! :-)
ReplyDeletewow, that is amazing!!! I used to live in Tucson and remember one time that we had a few flurries, and it was AN EVENT. :)
ReplyDeletestunning pictures <3 I would love to visit Arizona (and so many other places), winter or summer!
ReplyDeleteWow!! You got a lot more than we did too..... they said it was only out in Scottsdale and one part of South Phoenix ... we only saw hail at our place! LOL!! I loveeeeeeeeee the pics!! They are gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeletegorgeous photos Ursula!!! Oh you must have been like a little kid with all that snow falling!!!! How exciting!!
ReplyDeletehere in MA we are used to snow but seeing your pictures gives me a whole new appreciation for it...these photos are breathtakingly gorgeous. The picture of the red car in the field deserves to be framed...it is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteYes, I highly recommend four wheel drive for blizzards. But your photos are very very beautiful - that desert light on snow is something pretty special!
ReplyDeleteYou got some fantastic pics.
ReplyDeleteFour wheel drive is great but it doesn't make the way your BRAKES work change... despite some idiots' conviction otherwise!
I agree with Merrick. 4 wheel drive helps get you through the snow, but you can end up in the ditch just as easily if you drive like a maniac. I like to laugh at them when they go barreling by me and I see them in the ditch further up the road. Your photos are fabulous!!!!! Looks like you had fun toodling around getting all of these. :) I don't mind the snow as much as the cold. Here in WI, it gets COLD! Can you imagine -30 windchills?
ReplyDeleteFantastic pictures! I'm so glad you shared them! Snow can be really amazing and sometimes it's easy for those of us in more northern climates to take it for granted so it's good just take a minute to appreciate the beauty! Thanks for doing that!
ReplyDeletejust wanted to say your photos are gorgeous! you live in a beautiful area!!
