Hello Monday -- A New Layout and last day of the giveaway!

Hello Monday!  I want to start by giving you a heads up that today is the last day to participate in our 'Blog Hop located on this post.  And it's the last day to leave me a comment for the new Pink Paislee stamp set on the very same post.  Make sure you get your name in the drawing.

Now, I've got a super fun layout to show you that I created for the Green Frog Studio blog recently. You can see the original posts as well as Celine's sketch and Celine's take on it by clicking over here.  Celine pretty much rocks in every possible way so you really need to visit her if you haven't already!

I really liked the strips going down the side of the sketch, but I couldn't resist adding a few more and creating some texture in among them.  I especially like the way that garland banner looks as a 'stripe'.

The little note tags on which the title rests were sort of like post it notes, in other words, they were copy weight paper and not very sturdy. No problem, I just double up on them and sewed them together to give them a little umph!

By now, you know I have a love affair with tabs.  The blue rimmed one was already in the design of that paper, but it was a flat printed design.  I used my exacto to cut it out and then lift it off the page.

I hope you feel inspired.and will participate with us in this sketch challenge. You can find where to link up at the bottom of Celine's post!  Happy Scrapping!

Hello Tuesday -- Fun with the Green Frog

Hello friendlies! I'm sharing a layout I did for The Green Frog Studio recently.  It was actually a tutorial which I'd love for you to check out the details on.

The brief version is that I wanted to use some things up and I share how I accomplished that over at Green Frog.

Here's the layout that I ended up with.  I have to tell you it was LOADS of fun putting this project together.  It's just my kind of thing to have so many different detail elements all working together.

Do you ever struggle with how to visualize getting lots of detail on your page? I'd love to hear if any of the tips I shared helped you to work through sticking points in your projects.  And please share any future tutorials you'd like to see.

Have a great day!

Hello Thursday -- Sketchy? (a wee tutorial)

Guess what, yesterday marked my very first appearance on the Green Frog Studio Blog!!!!  Pretty exciting stuff in my book. Go take a look, Celine shared a layout using the sketch as well.

I thought I'd honor you with a bit about the how's on that particular layout. Here is Celine's Sketch.

And my layout:

When I am thinking of Celine, I seem to get artsy.  She just brings it out in me.  For this layout, I had a perfect excuse.  I'd just purchased some fun Tim Holtz Tissue Wrap from Blue Moon and I needed to do something with it. It was just that cool.

My plan was to color my base paper a bit, which I did with some mist and water and then to Mod-Podge the tissue on top of the cardstock base..  After that, I added some more color on top of that along with a bit of white paint.

Next, I embossed a background stamp using AC Zing in Blush.

Then, it was time to start layering.

The sketch had some basic layers and I added a few more.  I chose to use smaller photos and layering pieces because I wanted my nifty background to be seen.  (my background was vain)

You'll notice that I cut out a bit of the vellum layer so that the butterfly could show through in all her glory.

Stitching is a great way to hold down vellum which doesn't seem to accept glue readily.

That's most of the info.  I'd love to see what you do with Celine's sketch.  Make sure you let us know what you end up making with the sketch by linking us up on the original post over at the Green Frog Studio.
