ABC's of Me (thanks Mandy!)

I thought this would be fun since a lot of you are relatively new to reading my blog.  So here's a bit about me.

A. Age: 39

B. Bed size: Standard King

C. Chore that you hate: cleaning the litter box

D. Dogs: Bean, a 70 lb Boxer Lab mix and the cutest puppy known to man (I couldn't resist sharing a photo of his cute self)

E. Essential start to your day: Coffee with Vanilla creamer and Email

F. Favorite color: RED

G. Gold or Silver: Silver

H. Height: 5'7 (which is usually taller than most but seems not that tall to me, LOL)

I. Instruments you play: my vocal chords

J. Job title: Freelance photographer and SAHM

K. Kids: 6, but it's a rather confusing story and only 2 are left at home now.

L. Live: Vail, ARIZONA

M. Mother’s name: Hope Caroline (she went by both at different times in my life, growing up it was Caroline but now she goes by Hope)

N. Nicknames: Urs (eeeew, this may be the reason I stopped using Ursula for a loonnng time) and Dani, which is short for my middle name Danielle, oh, and 'Hurricane Ursula' was my nickname as a child as I was apparently quite the whirlwind.

O. Overnight hospital stays: when I birthed Kaitlin and the accident when I was 3 years old

P. Pet peeves: dishonesty (including the kind where people won't admit their shortcomings)

Q. Quote from a movie:  "oh yeah, you blend" (from My Cousin Vinny) and "Have you SEEN what's behind you lately??" (can't recall what movies that was from)

R. Right or left handed: left (but only for writing, all other things are done right handed, wierd eh.)

S.Siblings: one half brother, 2 half-sisters

T. Time you wake up: 8:30ish

U. Underwear: Yes please (I have never, and shall never go commando)

V. Vegetable you hate: Eggplant!

W. What makes you run late: the people I live with and trying to do 'one last thing'

X. X-Rays you’ve had: teeth, ultrasounds for baby, spine, CAT scan

Y. Yummy food that you make: Carnitas, but my family and friends report that all my food is yummy, oh and prizewinning chili!

Z. Zoo animal: It will always be Tigers

Who am I?

I wanted to start this blogging adventure by saying hello. I'm new to this, in so far as I've never done one of these on my own before. I thought perhaps any readers who might pop in would appreciate knowing why I named my blog Under Scarlet Bird's Wing".

There are a few reasons. First, I am in love with the color red, and more specifically, a particular moniker for that famed color, Scarlet! In fact, here are a few of the things I own that bear this wonderful color. (note, these are just a few, I didn't want you to be bored with ALL of them)

Red lipstick from MAC is a must have. I think I have 5 or 6 different MAC shades. Oooooh, and a lovely red eyeshadow too!

Here is the red portion of my antique books. Love this!

Secondly, I am a child of the King and He says that He will keep me protected underneath His wing. I like that image. The picture of a mother hen caring for her chicks, cuddling them and keeping them from danger.

Third, I am a major fan of the beautiful bird known as the Cardinal, or Red Bird. Since Red can be known as Scarlet, I've taken a bit of license. If I were a Lilliputian, I'd hang out underneath my very own Scarlet Bird's wing.

Finally, I believe that anyone ought to be able to see beauty and inspiration from such a wonderful place as peeking out from beneath this amazing feathered friends lovely wings. Don't you?
