June Picks Projects

I've been neglecting to post my projects lately.  But I thought I should share with you a couple of projects that came out of my June Picks for Blue Moon Scrapbooking.  If you want to know more about how I created these, have a look at the video below to get the scoop on the details.

I highly recommend checking out the Art Anthology dimensional paint!  Lots of fun to play with there.

And in case you really like watching the videos.....ta da!

Oh, and you can see a complete list of the picks that I chose for this month here.

Use What You've Got

What has been going on in your life lately?  Did you get to be there? Or is it a story told to you by family members who went on their own?

I am a picture taking fiend.  I take photos with the pages I will later create in mind.  I take details and panoramas and individual and group shots.  If there are signs, I take shots of those too.  But in the case of the event I scrapped below, I had to make due with the images my non-picture taking hubby supplied me.

He and our son, along with some other guys from our church, went to a recent Promise Keepers event.  They had a great time and two pretty full days of events.  I believe I was given about 5 or 6 total photos, 2/3 of which were blurry.

So, I used what I had and made the page work to tell the story using journaling and the great products found in the June kits, First Avenue and Going Downtown.

In the end, I am really happy with the result.  The photos don't show the detail I would have captured, but evidently, this is what seemed important to the guys that were there and so that becomes what is important on my page.

One of the unique features of this page is that I wanted to use the ABC stickers included in the kit to spell the word 'NOT' in my title, but I wanted it to be Orange to match the fun Basic Grey Rubons.  Not to worry, I used my Versamark ink to ink the letter stickers and then embossed them using an Orange tinted embossing powder.

I framed on of the rub-ons with a mini chipboard polaroid frame which I inked the edges of to make it stand out. I also like the texture provided by the canvas trim included in the kit.

Have you got some examples of 'making it work' from your own scrapbooks?  Please share them on our Facebook page!

And I forgot to tell you........

that I created this layout that I really really love!  I guess life has been going so fast that I just can't keep up and it seems like a million different things are happening and did you know that my son moved out this week and so we are empty nesters and a friend had a difficult diagnosis and another friend has a seriously painful situation and another friend is going through such a rough time and my other friend called and asked if I could help her with this thing she's dealing with and I got some really incredibly awesome news and I've got three deadlines to meet in the next two days and by the way, I'm getting sick!!!

Yep, that's pretty much the size of it.

So here's some pretty paper to share and a wee video about my pretty paper project and I do so hope that you'll enjoy it.

This one is created with the Scrapbook Circle April Kits!  (How did April arrive so early??)  The kits are called Happy Place and Good Times.  I love love love the colors in these kits.  So perfect for spring.

I went happy with all the pretty soft yellows in this months kits.  And am I the only one who is completely in love with that Heidi Swapp alpha?!  Truly makes me happy. See, in my Happy Place!

I hope you can find your happy place this week!

Make Your Own Enamel Dots

Good day friends.  I wanted to share a layout and a video today on how to create your own 'Enamel Dots'.  You'll notice that this layout is created from supplies from the February picks for my project life last month.

I've been creating with some super fun products lately that I've purchased over at Blue Moon Scrapbooking.  If you haven't checked out their shop, I do hope you will.  Scott and Lisa work very hard to get in the newsest products and I am amazed at the service they offer.

I am designing for them, but I've been shopping with them for about 4 years, long before I began working with them directly.  They ship all over the world (free shipping in the States on every order of $50, no codes necessary!)!  One of the things I love is that they have a lot of variety of types of products, including many many mixed media items.  In addition, if you are looking for something that they don't have, ask them about it. They really do listen to their customers.

Ok, so I promised a layout and a video demonstrating the awesome Viva Decor pens.  Here tis!

You can find these pens in the store right here in lots of different colors, including some that are transparent.  Super fun!

And a few photos of the layout....

You can see a detail of how beautiful that Julie Balzaar mask is.  I love all the options available just on that one single mask.

I'm a big fan of inking my stamps with cat's eye inks so I can add a specific color to a specific portion of the stamp.

Enamel dots in action.  The color of these is actually turquoise but it photographed almost cobalt, not sure why that is.

Do let me know if you give making your own enamel dots a try.  I'm guessing you'll be addicted pretty quickly like me!

Hello Wednesday -- Pray Please

Hello friends,

I know that some of you are praying people and I have a prayer request I'd like to share today on behalf of a friend.  A young man I attend church with is in med-school with a student named Derek. Derek is 40 years old and has been diagnosed with brain cancer of the sort that he is expected to die from rather quickly.

Derek is married and has young children.  Please pray that God will heal this man in a miraculous manner.  I can't imagine how it feels to lose a husband and father so very young to this disease and it breaks my heart to think of it.  Given that, I've been praying daily and wanted to ask if you'd join me as well. For all who do, thank you so very much.

Alrighty then, here's another Scrapbook Circle project I've been itching to share with you since I made it.  I am sooo in love with the cut-out star border.  IN. LOVE.

The gal in the picture is my sweet, beautiful friend Misty.  She and I are soul sisters.  We are sooo much alike.  We're both pretty bold, loud sorts and somehow, we still get on great.  She has an amazing vintage style and I'm always wishing I could figure out how to do what she does.

I loved this kit so very much.  That wood-grain paper and gold airmail washi together were an absolute winning combo.  I'm sorry to say it's all sold out but make sure and get your subscription so you don't miss the next fabulous bunch of kit goodness!

Layer layer layer.

And pop dot's are my new best friend!

Today is the last day to get your name in the hat for the drawing on this post!  Don't miss out!
