In honor of our brand spanking new blog and our blog hop, I've created a new layout to share with you. I have to tell you that I was inspired by Miss Amy Heller's recent layout for my starting point. Add a little Celine style inspiration and.....Voila!
My main gig here was that I wanted to use the green paper as my background but I didn't want the color quite so strong. What to do???? Add paint of course to soften the color.
I've also been loving using vellum to add a little extra texture and transparency.
Add one of Julie Fei Fan Balzer's masks and I was truly happy with my background.
Well, except that I had to use the Handmade stamp set to add some more texture, pattern and color variation to the background.
That hexagon stamp combined with Colorbox Frost ink = some wonderful texture!
Great layout! I like to use white paint around the edges of my holiday projects to give a "snow" feel.
ReplyDeleteCouldnt see the first 2 images on this post but the last layout was great...love the use of paint.
ReplyDeleteWonderful layout!!!! I really like the effect that you've used for softening the green color of the paper. Very inspiring project!!

ReplyDeleteI've never used paint quite like that on my layouts. I think it looks awesome, but I am intimidated even by mists! Maybe someday I'll be brave :)

Great Layout!Love the colors!
ReplyDeleteI've used paint to soften backgrounds, haven't been confident enough in my work to know if I liked it or not actually!!! It's different! I like it when I look at other people's projects, such as this one, but when it comes to showing non-scrappers/cardmakers, I always get the "What's with the paint?" question! So the jury is out! Lovely work here!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your layout!
ReplyDeleteI have not used paint on my layouts...only a bit of mist sometimes.
ReplyDeleteYour page is beautiful, I love the collage look and the chevrons. I love to use paint to change patterned papers, it is helping me get through a very old stash of papers that would otherwise remain unused :-)
ReplyDeleteFabulous layout, Ursula! I haven't gotten brave enough to use paint to really alter my background.
ReplyDeleteLots of wonderful detail on your beautiful layout - love all the greens - beautiful use of your papers!
ReplyDeleteLovey layout and I love your photos!
ReplyDeleteI like the shabby look of your layout. VERY nice.
ReplyDeleteI am just beginning to use paint in my scrapbooks. I haven't ventured to using it on my backgound paper yet, but I just might have too after seeing your layout!
ReplyDeleteI've just paint as used as a background a couple of times - wasn't elaborate, just a bit of a swipe - didn't mind it, but do need to start experiencing a bit more :)
ReplyDeleteNope. Not a painter. Way too klutzy. Ha!
ReplyDeleteI've not used paint on cards or layouts. I'm only into misting at this point. Love the texture on your LO.
ReplyDeleteLove the colors in this layout....want paint back in my layouts again. Great job!
ReplyDeleteLove this page! No, I've never used paint on my backgrounds before, but you can bet I'll be using it now!
ReplyDeleteI've not used pait but admire those brave enough to do so.

ReplyDeletegorgeous-love the green combined with the yellow~! and no, I haven't used paint but always say I'm going to!
ReplyDeleteLove your paint effect! I sometimes use gesso to tone down a bold patterned paper or watercolors to brighten up a paler one. I really like using watercolors on dotted swiss cardstock.
ReplyDeleteYour layout is awesome! I have tried using paint on backgrounds before, even mists and a few times gesso, but i have to say that the end result just never seemed as nice as yours. I guess i need a little more practice. I'm taking out my paints right after i finish hopping! Thanks for the inspiration! :)
