Yes, it's mid-February. Yes, I'm a little slow. All the same, I am proud!
When I decided to start this project last November, I had quite a bit of trepidation. I knew it was a big commitment. (2010's project didn't fare so well!) I was determined to carry it through to it's completetion. But I also knew that we were taking a 10 day trip to Mexico and that it would be impossible for me to continue the project while there.
When I was doing one page a day it didn't seem too daunting, but when I got back stateside and had 12 pages to complete it felt a bit overwhelming. You might wonder why I didn't do one page a day at that time, but getting back from a trip meant I had a lot of other catching up to do and it just wasn't happening.
Well guess what, it's done now and I couldn't be happier with the end result. I really feel like it's a beautiful book. It was a labor of love and I am hoping that the rest of my family will treasure it as well.
So here is day 25!
And if you'd like to browse through the entire thing all together and in order, you can see it at the link below.
I hope you've enjoyed taking this trip with me. It's been a wonderful learning experience on so many levels. I realized things like the fact that my life is not nearly as boring as I imagine it to be and that there are daily things and moments to be captured, even though we live in routine. I learned that photography really can shine in a project like this. I learned that simple can be a very good thing. I learned that I like having not quite so many things on my desk at one time!
I'm sure there were lots of other lessons along the way too!
Finally, I'd like a share a new layout I made on Friday. The idea for this came straight from the amazingly talented Celine Navarro.
I've had this odd piece of paper packing material that I'd saved for quite a few years. I knew I wanted to use it in some scrap projects but I hadn't quite figured out how. Celine's blog offered an amazing tutorial that got my wheels turning and this was the result.
It's pretty artsy fartsy I think. I really wanted to get into my stash and so for this project I just started pulling things out kind of willy nilly! Fun stuff with all that mist and gesso and goodies! I highly recommend trying her technique!
