I've changed my Mind---Yep, I'm a girl

I've been working the last couple of weeks to apply to some design teams.  I had a wonderful team I was on at my LSS, but sadly, they are closing and tomorrow is their last day of business.  Of course, this makes me very sad.  I have loved shopping there and getting to know the staff and sharing my projects.

But life goes on.  Well, I'd been working on projects to submit to two different companies.  Both are wonderful companies with terrific products, they really truly are.  However, I've realized that I just don't think I could make projects I'm happy with exclusively from one of the companies products.

I have often enjoyed Bella Blvds products in bits and pieces, but trying to make entire layouts with only BB has been a real challenge.  I've been counseled not to sign on with a company unless I completely adore their stuff and I just can't say that is true for BB.  At least, not that I love it so much that I can forsake the use of all others.  I think using the products for the several projects I have showed me that I need a variety of saturation in the papers and embellishments.  Bella has a very bright, fully saturated line of products and I am just not a very bright and saturated kind of girl in my Layouts.

So with that, I'd like to reveal to you all of the pages I made using their products. I like them, I really do and they did cause me to climb out of my proverbial box a bit. I'm just not sure that I can keep on climbing, ya know what I mean.

So here is to Bella.  You have wonderful products and I know I'll be incorporating them into my projects here and there from time to time.

Here are a few things I've learned.
  • If you aren't certain you want to be on a particular company's DT, then you probably should just leave it alone.
  • If you don't own very many of a particular company's products, then you probably should just leave it alone.
  • Please refer to item number one.
I think Bella Blvd has some fantastic products, they just aren't my particular style.  Hope you enjoy! I did enjoy making each of these layouts.  I challenged myself in a variety of ways for each one and I feel like I've grown in my craft!

Thanks for looking!

  1. Love all these pages! And that's a wise decision about DT's. It's easy to get swept up in the excitement of being on one. But if you will struggle to use their product...that's no fun! :)

  2. Ursula, these pages are amazing! I totally get what you're saying though and completely agree. It's very hard to let your creativity flow if you're hindered by having to use a certain product sometimes, so it sounds to me like you're definitely doing what's right for you...

Good luck on the other DT call by the way...I'm pretty sure I can guess which company it is from your latest posts and if I'm right, you would be an AWESOME addition to their team!

  3. BUT you made incredible pages out of their product! I agree with you about one thing that applies to all aspects of life: If you don't love it, don't put everything you've got into it! That being said, sometimes working with something you are not used to using makes you stretch out of your comfort zone and find yourself doing things (or creating things) you didn't expect to make! Even if you aren't going for this design team, it looks like the effort paid off! Best of luck to getting on which ever design team is lucky enough to have you!!

  5. Ursula - they are great layouts! But I totally agree with you. The same think happened to me with Three Bugs in a Rug. I submitted my app anyway, but the whole time kept thinking why did I do that.
Nothing against their product. It was just really hard for me to work with.
There are lots of companies that I love in bits and pieces and only a handful that I want entire lines :)

  11. BTW, I agree: I'm waaay too eclectic to use only one company's product. While I think these layouts are incredible, I'm looking around your workshop thinking: hours of fun. ;^)

  16. You make me laugh :) I completely agree! While there are some companies whose product I love, I may not love all of it, ya know? That's what I love about mixing and matching. I don't do well with restrictions.

  20. I think your layouts look fantastic and would never have guessed that you weren't completely at home with these products. So wise to really try out a manufacturer before thinking you would desire a spot on their DT!
