Hello Thursday -- Think Pink

So my friend from Studio Calico, miss Sierra is quite a fighter.  She's battling her way through cancer and since last month was Breast Cancer Awareness month, she challenged us all to do a project in honor of someone who'd been affected by cancer.

I haven't exactly been directly affected, but we had a lump scare in our family recently, and so I decided to this layout as a way of saying thank you to Him who created my beautiful daughter and holds her firmly in the palm of His hand.

This layout turned out to be exceptional fun! In part, because I was working strictly from my stash with no assignments to adhere to.  Lately, that has been a rare project indeed.  (yeah, it's my own fault, but I do love DT work, it keeps me challenged to continue growing as a designer)

I made that cute little vellum feather from vellum that I designed and printed myself!  Super fun and pretty simple when you have the right tools.  I'll be sharing just how I did that very soon.

Mist and wood veneer........nice!  I found this pretty nifty transparent paper with gold designs on it at Joann's recently. You see it peeking out from behind the photo.  It's not vellum, more like mulberry paper.  I'm kind of in love with it.

Who are you thankful for in your life?  When you face the possibility that something awful could happen, everything zings right into perspective and you are soooo glad that you have those people to call loved ones.

I am thankful for my family and in laws- without them, the transition to parenthood would not have been as smooth as it has been.
