I need your input

As many of you have likely guessed, I'm contemplating opening an Etsy shoppe!  But I want some feedback from all of you about what you'd like to see in such a shop.

Here are some of the items I am considering having available (these aren't all guaranteed at present, but they are under consideration)

  •  fun little label stickers with words and phrases
  •  button badges in the 1 inch size
  •  German Foil pieces
  • Vintage flower diecuts
  • Vintage ephemera in general (I have a pretty extensive collection)
  • Vintage notions
  • Vintage watch parts
  • Vintage Ledger paper
  • Washi tape
  •  Mini Envelopes
  •  Mini album kits that will be pretty limited in number and very unique
  •  Handmade embellishments
  •  Ribbon trim
  • Handmade Paper
  • Die Cut shape files
  • Or just die cut shapes already cut from nifty paper!
Those are some initial ideas but I'd love to hear what you'd like to see in a store from me.  Feel free to make lots of suggestions and we'll see what I can come up with.

Tell me which of these ideas you like, which you hate (and why if you don't mind) and share any additional ideas you may have too!

In the meantime, be patient with me.  This shop opening business takes a lot of planning!

  1. i think the list you have sounds amazing, the only thing i would say is maybe limit whata you sell at first just so that you don't get overwhelmed KWIM then slowly add to it. You have a lot of new commitments scrap wise and i dont want you to burn out

  4. Great ideas! My favorites are:
    Anything vintage
LOVE the sticker tags, and I would expand on those to include things such as school grades, 1st, 2nd, etc...(Some of them would also work for sports, 1st place, 2nd place, etc..)I would also do ages, both for babies 1 1 mth, 2 mths etc.(those could be used both for "before and after" the baby is born, and things like 8th, 9th birthday, etc.. and I know I could always use tags for family members, such as Father, Mother, etc. You could also offer "name" tags, made for "special order" for a higher price of course, such as Matthew, Madison, etc..These should not be made till the order was paid in full. I know I like the idea of having a stylish name tag pre-printed in a variety of colors, ready for me to just pop on a page. Send me your email and I'll try to think up some more ideas for you. Love Penny, Best of luck!

  8. I LOVE it ALLLL but those tags are my fave! I agree with the Caroline though. You are such an awesome creative person I would hate to see you get overwhelmed because you offer too much at the start. I think easing in to all this great stuff would be good. I can't wait to grab some of your tags (I’m addicted to those lately and any washi tape always has to come home with me!) xoxo

  11. I think it's a great idea. Just start listing things slowly and don't get discouraged. Etsy can be a frustrating place sometimes. Good luck.

  14. I love the word stickers, those are a must! I also love the button badges, those seem to be really hot these days. I am not a big vintage person, but I know others are. Of course washi is what you are know for, so that might be a good idea as well. I would def. be a customer if you opened up a shop! Good luck!

  20. I am loving those stickers and button badges and they would definately be in my cart. The handmade embellishments would have to be really unique, as there are so many shops out there doing them. Same goes with the vintage findings. The german foils would be nice. Whatever you do, plan and organize really well before you start, and good luck!

  24. I sort of like everything about it. But as you said - opening you own business is a big task. I have a small kit club, and have had it for over 2 years, and I´m still figuring it out...

  25. I think it all sounds great, esp. the mini album kits!

  26. I think having a package of ephemera (vintagey stuff & new too) like the OA miscellany packs would be AMAZING!!! I would also like it if you offered pink labels cuz pink is my fave and I use it on EVERYTHING! :)

  27. I have been toying with the idea of opening a shop for months! I'm just so wishy-washy with the whole idea. Like, will people really buy my stuff or am I just fooling myself? It's sometimes scary to put yourself out there, but you'll never know until you try. I think your list is fantastic and I can't wait to see what you do. Go for it!

  28. I love those little label stickers!! Can't wait until you open your shop!

  29. Fantastic idea. Love the mini albums. Little boxes of your creative awesomeness would be great -- I know your taste and would love to buy a little "grab-bag" of wonderful things. I always struggle to buy quantities of things, because I tire of them so easily. Or I'm easily distracted. Or something.

BTW, Ushi is still the most adorable thing to enter our house...ever. Tonight the boys rescued a similarly colored, shaped and sized item from the dunes. I promptly sent it to a neighbor's house. There is only one Ushi. hehehe ;^)

washi, tags, tabs, flags, buttons..small embellishment kits.... as an international stuff that can fit into an envelope/small packet to save on postage!!!

oh and stuff for cards...happy birthday words, phrases, tags etc...

    all the best..it sounds fun!!
