December Daily 2011 --Installment 2

I'm back to bring you a few more pages of last years December Daily.  (well, who am I kidding, the only remaining pages)  (and did that sound like a radio announcer to anyone besides the inside of my brain?)

This is the rest of my rather shortened December Daily from last year.

Perhaps I should start with the December 9th this year???

If I recall correctly, I scored these pages down the center and simply folded them in half to create the 6x12 pages.  It made it easier than cutting them down.  Well, I am not sure now why I thought so, but it is what I did.  It certainly kept things from sliding around.

In hindsight, what was hardest for me was the fact that we didn't do very much out of the ordinary.  We homeschool so there were no school events or pageants to go to.  Life was pretty much status quo.  I am learning from some of the other girls that it doesn't have to be 'Christmasy' to fit.  Perhaps it's more like 'Month in the Life' but with less photos.

How do you approach this?  Is your December drastically different from the rest of the year?  How?  Love to hear your thoughts.

  1. My December daily is filled with the day to day and build up to Christmas thing. Our traditions through December and our Christmas baking.

  5. This will be my first DD. As I'm designing mine, I find it a bit bulky. But I'll deal because that's my style! Yours are really a lot of fun.

  6. Love that your pages are not so Christmas-y. I wonder aboout not doing a lot of holiday related things either, but i like having the month documented. Even just the mundane.

  12. We DO do a lot of out of the ordinary stuff in Dec. But I also take pictures of the decorations, the weather, the cookies/baking/cooking. I remember the first year I did a DD I purposely tried to do something everyday that was Christmas-y. Well that got exhausting. The next year I did a lot less. There are days in my album where I don't even have pictures, but just some journaling or documentation. My number one advice is to just not stress about it. :) This year my DD is going to be more writing then pictures simply because it's a unique year for us.

  14. Love your pages! To answer your question, I'm doing 31 days, with Bible verses related to Advent, Christmas and Ephiphany for each page. For some pages I may highlight a favorite hymn. For others I will tell a tradition. There will be events to document as well, like baking, tree decorating, a trip to CA (first time in a decade to spend the holiday with my family), hopefully some skiing, sledding, and just the day to day of getting school work done. I also want to do a page about my 11 year old boy and his shopping - the last couple of years that has been a cute and funny adventure. So, hopefully I'll finish the guts of the dd so I can fill it with these ideas.

  17. The pages you did do are stunning.
As for what to do? We dressed my middle daughter up like a zombie and re-enacted Night of the Living Dead for my oldest daughters college class, lol.
If you want to check out mine, here it is :)
