Just wanted to take a minute to thank all of you who have been visiting me lately and helping me to build my readership. I hope you know that I really appreciate every single comment you make and get so excited to read your thoughts.
Today is the last day for my giveaway on this post so make sure you are entered to win! Good luck to each of you.
Today, I have for you a fun little layout that represents my doggy (whose name is Bean, complete with all the variations of nickname that you might imagine!)
It also represents my foray into the world of the Silhouette SD (please don't mention to me the fact that they JUST came out with the Cameo, I will stick my fingers in my ears if you do!!!)
I've had my Silhouette sitting on my desk for a good six months. Quietly collecting dust while I sat staring at it in fear. Yes.....FEAR. I was afraid of setting it up.
Good electronics are fearful things. Add to them computerness and you have sheer terror. At least that is how I tend to feel.
But the other day, I faced my fear, and the result was nothing short of AMAZING.
Did I tell you that I used to do graphic design for Scrap Girls, LLC? Well, I did. I created my own digital collections and so forth. But then I just kind of lost steam. Life got in the way, other things took precedence and eventually that chapter in my life ended and a new one began.
But.....it prepared me to be able to create my very own shapes with the Silhouette. I've done two so far and I am in heaven. See that butterfly down there? I did it. I created it.
No offence to the folks at Silhouette but quite a lot of their designs are created a little less professionally than I'd like. Enter ME! Who knows where this will go. But for now, I'm just dizzy with the glee of creating and cutting!
So here is my first layout using the Silhouette. It's also inspired by the challenges over at JBS Mercantile. (I may have found another happy place over there) And yes, there is washi tape! Can you spot it?
The original inspiration for this layout came from a card by Danielle Flanders.
Hope you enjoyed! Have a great day!

Wow, lovely layout and I'm so impressed you created that butterfly! I have a Robo (old version of Silhouette)but am not so good at actually creating files to cut. Becky x
ReplyDeleteWow!! Awesome page and card. I love the design and all the fun stuff. Sweet!
ReplyDeleteGreat layout. And that butterfly is nothing short of fantastic. Hurray for breaking out the Silhouette!
ReplyDeleteAdorable, Ursula!!! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd can I just say that I still have the scanner my husband bought me for Christmas several years ago. Never used once. Never hooked up. Not sure why, but I was intimidated by it!
What a waste! Glad you got over your fear ;)
Just fabulous Ursula! I've got a Silhouette on my one-day-wishlist (and have forever!) and so it'll be exciting to watch you work with yours. ;)
ReplyDelete- April
Go fearless you!!!!! :) Love the butterfly and the LO!
ReplyDeleteLOVE! LOVE!! LOVE!!!
ReplyDeleteBean is absolutely ADORABLE!!! As are nearly ALL boxers! :) Of course I'm biased, LOL. I would really love to pet that squishy face and kiss that wrinkled head! Too cute!!! LOVE the journalling also-so true!!!
I bought an original Silhouette not long after the SDs came out, and it's still plugging along quite nicely. I use it all the time, and other than a suspected learning curve and the occasional "operator error," I haven't had any trouble with it. I think the updated software has been easier to use, but I still don't use all the fancy features. I still love it though, and it's working just fine, so until it craps out, I can't justify spending the money on a new Cameo (although it would be divine ...).
This is a beautiful layout! You did a fabulous job!! Love the misting!
ReplyDeleteLovely layout! I really love the colours and butterfly
ReplyDeleteSuper cool! Everyone is so hot on the Silhouette! I want one so bad!
ReplyDeleteWow! This is a lovely layout. Love the details. I agree....alot of the Silhouette shapes are not necessarily up to par, I prefer Kerri Bradford's oldies over there and buy her new ones. You should pursue this, many would buy :)
ReplyDeleteWow, impressive butterfly, I wouldn't have any idea how to do something like that. Love the doghouse you constructed for Bean!
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely gorgeous! The butterfly is really pretty. You did an amazing job on your page.
ReplyDeleteUrsula: I'm glad I found your blog. Not just because of the giveaway, but because I believe God somehow works in the smallest details to lead us, as fellow believers, to support each other. It's so nice having you as a new follower, and becoming your follower as well, and I'm inspired by what I am seeing so far on your blog. We serve an awesome God.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Karen
