I can't help it. Color calls to me like a siren calls to a man. If its colorful, you can be sure I am going to check it out. One day, I'll have to take some photos of my home's interior so you can see just how serious I am about liking color. You could say I live in a rainbow.
I created this layout with that philosophy at the forefront of my mind. I had a hankering to use that Studio Calico stamp to infuse a flash of color onto this warm brown card-stock and the rest is history.
It's another Elle's Studio / Studio Calico combination because I just think they play well together and I happen to love them both. I really like the juxtaposition of the bright colors against the wooden 'celebrate' pennant.
I used Zing Embossing powders to achieve the bright colors on the stamped design, the splatters and the alphabets. I applied the Versafine ink to the whole stamp and stamped it all at once. Then I covered areas of the stamped image with paper while I applied each color. I then tapped that color off and applied the next color until I got them all done then heat embossed the whole thing at once.
For the splatters, I used watered down glue to make spatters, then applied the embossing powder. This I did one color at a time. I found that I needed to blot the glue before applying the powders, this created a sticky spot rather than a sticky bubbly puddle.
Well, that is about all she wrote. I do hope you have a great Wednesday and I hope to see you tomorrow again.
beautiful layout, it seems we both have had our zing out this week

There is so much to love about this LO!! And I really like hw you used that emobossing powder in the upper left/right corner!
ReplyDeleteLove this! Those splatters are so cool; I love the texture that the glue made.... or was the texture from the embossing powder itself? Hmmm. Must try this technique; but first I will have to find some Bright embossing powder.
